Lending a helping hand to Queensland’s Wolston Park Golf Club

Like many Australians, the management, committee and members of the Campbelltown Golf Club were shocked to see the images of devastation caused by the Queensland floods.

With the overwhelming support of members, it was quickly decided that the club would dedicate a full day to fundraising actives with all the proceeds to be donated to the victims of the floods. We felt it appropriate to dedicate these proceeds to a fellow Golf Club and identified Wolston Park Golf Club in Wacol Queensland as our recipient.

The fundraiser was held on Saturday 19 February, with many golf club members being very active participants in the event. We would also like to acknowledge a number of companies that assisted us in our efforts by donating various items for raffles and
promotions including: Campbelltown Catholic Club, Gator Golf, Tooheys Australia, Coca Cola Amatil, Fosters Group, Australian Liquor Marketers, Titleist and Callaway.

The club would also like to acknowledge the dedication and assistance of Paul Marantz, our Club Professional, gave to make this day a success. As part of the fundraising Paul volunteered his services to stand on our first tee area and collect gold coin donations from members for Paul to play their first tee shots. Paul played shots for 160 golfers, raising just under $600. Paul also ran our ‘chip off’, raising another $500! Without Paul’s assistance the day would not have been as successful as it was.

The total raised for the day amounted to $3,946.60. We hope this small token of support will help the Members of Wolston Park Golf Club reopen the golf course and clubhouse in the near future and restore it to its former beauty.
